How to Use Krya Classic Natural Laundry Detergent Powder

For Best Results: Activate Before Washing

Soapberry saponins release more effectively in warm water. For a better wash — especially for larger loads or more soiled clothes — we recommend a quick activation step.

Place the filled detergent pouch in a cup of warm water for 5–10 minutes before adding it to your machine or bucket. This helps release the saponins more fully into the wash water and improves cleaning performance.

If you use borewell or hard water, this step is especially helpful.

For Front-Load & Top-Load Washing Machines

1. Add 1 level tablespoon (10 g) of Krya Classic Detergent Powder to the cotton detergent pouch provided.

2. Tie the pouch securely with a double knot.

3. Place the pouch directly inside the washing machine drum along with your clothes.

4. If available, use the Soak function before starting the wash cycle.

5. Wash as usual.

Why use the Soak function?
Natural detergents benefit from a little extra contact time. Allowing the detergent pouch to soak with the clothes helps release more soapberry saponins into the wash water and improves cleaning performance.

For Bucket Wash & Hand Wash

1. Add 1 level tablespoon (10 g) of Krya Classic Detergent Powder to the cotton detergent pouch.

2. Tie the pouch securely with a double knot.

3. Place the pouch in a bucket of water and gently work it with your hands to release the soapberry lather.

4. Soak clothes for 15–20 minutes. The soak time allows soapberry saponins to penetrate fabric fibres and loosen soil — particularly useful for collars, cuffs and everyday grime.

5. Wash and rinse as usual.

For Heavily Soiled Clothes & Stains

For collars, cuffs, food stains and heavily soiled areas:

1. Mix a small quantity of Krya Classic Detergent Powder with water to make a thick paste.

2. Apply the paste directly to the stained area.

3. Use a laundry brush to gently work the paste into the fabric.

4. Allow it to sit before washing normally.

For heavily soiled loads, combine stain treatment with a longer soaking period for best results.

Less Foam Does Not Mean Less Cleaning

Soapberries naturally produce less foam than conventional detergents. The cleaning action comes from soapberry saponins rather than synthetic foaming agents. Lower foam also means the detergent rinses away more easily, helping reduce water use during washing.

After Washing

Once the wash cycle is complete:

1. Open the detergent pouch.

2. Empty the spent soapberry powder into your compost bin or garden soil.

3. Wash and dry the cotton pouch before its next use.

The spent powder is fully biodegradable and compostable.

Krya Classic Natural Laundry Detergent Powder is made from two soapberry species and a very small quantity of lemon peel used for batch consistency.

We use whole soapberry fruit powder, not soapberry extracts, surfactants, fragrance blends or detergent additives. Whole fruit powder retains the full saponin profile of the soapberry, not just an isolated fraction. This keeps the formula simple, transparent and easy to understand.

Soapberries are a natural forest-harvest ingredient and their colour varies from harvest to harvest. To help maintain visual consistency between batches, we occasionally add a very small quantity of lemon peel powder.

• Lemon peel is not used as a bleaching agent

• Lemon peel is not added for fragrance

• Lemon peel is not present in sufficient quantities to materially affect cleaning performance
