Description

A richer red henna hair colour for those who enjoy visible warmth

Madyantika Red is designed for people who enjoy visible warm red and burgundy tones in their hair, while still staying within the comfort of a natural, herbal hair colouring routine.

Unlike simple henna powders that produce a bright copper tone, this carefully formulated blend uses henna along with colour-modifying Ayurvedic herbs to create a deeper red shade that can evolve into warm burgundy tones with repeated applications.

The result is a natural red henna hair colour that is vibrant on greys, warm on brown hair and subtly luminous on darker hair, while also supporting hair strength and scalp health.

Because the formula uses only whole herbs and no synthetic dyes, PPD, ammonia or metallic salts, the colour develops gradually and builds beautifully with regular use.

Who is Madyantika Red best suited for?

This shade works best for people who enjoy a visible warm colour in their hair rather than trying to completely hide colour variation.

It is particularly well suited for:

• People with moderate to high greys who are comfortable with a vibrant red tone on greys
• Those who enjoy warm auburn or burgundy highlights on darker hair
• Users looking for a natural red hair dye without PPD or synthetic pigments
• People with fine or fragile hair who want the strengthening benefits of henna

Because red tones are visible, this shade may feel more expressive than darker henna colours. Many customers enjoy this warmth as it adds natural-looking dimension and shine to the hair.

What colour result can you expect?

Natural henna colours interact with your starting hair colour, so results vary slightly from person to person.

On 100% grey hair
The colour appears as a bright copper-red initially and deepens into a richer red or burgundy tone over time.

On brown hair
Madyantika Red creates a warm red-brown shade that becomes richer with repeated use.

On black hair
The colour is usually subtle indoors but shows as beautiful red highlights in sunlight.

Because henna binds naturally to hair keratin, the colour also deepens slightly over the first 24–48 hours after rinsing.

Building richer red tones over time

One of the beautiful aspects of herbal hair colouring is that the shade improves and deepens with regular use.

With repeated applications, many users notice that the colour evolves from a brighter copper-red tone into deeper red or burgundy shades.

Most customers reapply every 4–6 weeks, either to cover new grey growth or simply to deepen the tone further.

Regular use also allows henna to gradually strengthen the hair shaft, making this both a colouring treatment and a strengthening hair pack.

How this formula supports thicker, stronger hair

Henna has long been valued in Ayurveda not just as a natural dye but also as a hair-strengthening herb.

When applied as a paste, henna binds gently to the hair shaft and forms a protective coating that helps:

• strengthen fragile hair strands
• reduce breakage
• improve hair thickness and body
• enhance shine and smoothness

The supporting herbs in this formula further help improve scalp comfort and hair texture, making this tint particularly useful for people with fine or delicate hair.

With regular application, many users notice hair that feels thicker, stronger and more resilient.

How we create a richer red henna shade

Pure henna on its own typically produces a bright copper-orange colour.

Madyantika Red uses a combination of Ayurvedic herbs that help shift this tone into a deeper red or burgundy shade while also improving hair health.

Henna (Lawsonia inermis) provides the natural dye molecule that binds to hair.
Amla helps balance the paste, support hair health and deepen the tone.
Hibiscus enhances red pigmentation, shine and softness.
Manjishta contributes deeper red undertones that soften the bright orange effect.

Together these herbs create a balanced red shade that develops gradually and naturally.

Why Krya henna colours are different

Strong colour from herbal dyes comes from strong, pigment-rich herbs.

Krya henna hair colours are built around high-lawsone Sojat henna, one of the most pigment-rich henna varieties available in India. This gives our formulations deeper and more reliable colour compared with generic henna powders.

Each supporting herb in the formula is sourced carefully and processed individually according to Ayurvedic principles before being blended.

This approach preserves both the natural pigment strength and the hair-supporting qualities of the herbs, creating a herbal hair colour that works both as a colour treatment and a strengthening hair pack.

The result is a plant-based henna hair colour that delivers vibrant colour while improving hair health over time.

How to Use

How to Use

Herbal hair colours work differently from chemical dyes. Instead of bleaching the hair, henna binds naturally to the hair shaft, creating a gradual, long‑lasting colour while also supporting hair strength and scalp health. Follow these steps for best results.

Step 1: Wash your hair the day before colouring
Wash your hair the day before you plan to colour using a gentle herbal hair wash. Avoid conditioners, silicone serums or heavy styling products before colouring, as these can prevent the herbal dye from binding properly to the hair shaft. On the day of colouring, your hair should be clean, dry and free of styling products.

Step 2: Prepare the henna paste (the night before)
In a bowl, mix the required quantity of powder with water to form a smooth, yogurt‑like paste. Cover the bowl and leave the paste overnight to allow proper dye release. For a slightly deeper shade, you may prepare the paste in an iron bowl; traditionally, iron vessels are also considered helpful for balancing pitta and calming the scalp. By morning, the paste will be ready for application.

Step 3: Prepare your workspace
Henna application can be slightly messy and may stain fabrics. Before starting: wear an old T‑shirt, keep an old towel around your shoulders, and apply the paste in a space where accidental stains are easy to clean. If the paste falls on fabric, it can leave a stain, so it is best to protect clothing beforehand.

Step 4: Apply the paste
Wear gloves and divide your hair into sections. You can apply the paste using a henna dye applicator bottle or by hand with gloves. Apply from roots to ends, ensuring every strand is coated evenly, paying special attention to grey areas. Once application is complete, cover the hair with a shower cap or wrap to keep the paste moist. It is generally best to apply henna in the morning so the hair and scalp can dry comfortably afterwards.

Step 5: Leave the colour on the hair
Leave the paste on the hair for 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on the depth of colour you prefer. Longer application generally allows the herbal dye to bind more deeply to the hair shaft.

Step 6: Rinse thoroughly
Rinse the hair thoroughly with plain water until all the paste is removed. Avoid shampooing immediately after rinsing if possible. Over the next 24 hours, the colour will settle and deepen naturally as it stabilises on the hair.

Step 7: Oil and wash after 24 hours if needed
After about 24 hours, you can apply a small amount of hair oil if the hair feels slightly dry. You may then wash the hair with a gentle herbal hair wash, or simply oil the hair and continue your regular routine. Regular hair oiling and herbal cleansing help protect the hair shaft and allow the colour to remain richer for longer.

Why We Use Each Herb

Henna (Lawsonia inermis)

Henna is the primary colouring herb in this formulation. Its natural dye molecule binds to the hair shaft to create a long-lasting herbal hair colour while also helping strengthen fragile strands and improve hair thickness.

Indian Hibiscus Flower (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis)

Hibiscus helps support the richer red tone of this shade, while also improving hair softness and shine. In Ayurvedic hair care it is traditionally valued for supporting scalp health and hair texture.

Amla (Emblica officinalis)

Amla helps balance and deepen henna’s tone, reducing excessive brassiness and helping the colour evolve into a deeper red. It also supports scalp health, hair strength and shine.

Manjishta (Rubia cordifolia)

Manjishta contributes deeper red undertones, helping soften the bright copper effect of plain henna and supporting the richer red-burgundy tone of this formulation. In Ayurveda it is also valued for supporting scalp balance.

Dadima Peel (Punica granatum)

Dadima peel contains natural tannins that help support better colour hold and improve how the herbal dye sits on the hair shaft, while also supporting scalp balance.

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

Fenugreek improves softness, slip and manageability, helping counter the rough feel that plain henna can sometimes leave behind.

Yashtimadhu (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

Yashtimadhu is a soothing Ayurvedic herb that helps support scalp comfort and balance, making the overall formulation gentler on the scalp.

Jal Pippali / Poduthalai (Phyla nodiflora / Lippia nodiflora)

Jal Pippali is traditionally used in herbal hair care to support scalp health and strengthen the hair root environment, contributing to overall hair vitality.

Why Krya Hair Colours Are Different

Most “herbal hair colours” in the market rely on generic henna powders, herbal extracts, filler herbs, or hidden synthetic additives.

Krya hair colours are built differently.

We use pigment-rich henna combined only with whole Ayurvedic herbs, and process every herb individually in-house before blending. This helps preserve both the natural pigment strength of the colouring herbs and the hair-supporting qualities of the rest of the formulation.

So this is not just a hair colour.

It is a carefully designed Ayurvedic herbal hair treatment that colours the hair while also supporting scalp health, hair strength, thickness and reduced breakage.

FAQs

FAQs – Krya Madyantika Red Herbal Henna Hair Colour

1. Will this colour look too bright on my hair?

When first applied, henna typically stains grey or very light hair a bright copper-red shade. Over the next 24 hours, the colour settles and becomes less brassy as it oxidizes and interacts with the supporting herbs in the formulation.

In Madyantika Red, herbs like amla, hibiscus and manjishta help soften the bright copper tone and gradually develop the colour into a richer red shade.

In Indian conditions, where warmth and sunlight are stronger, this settling process often happens more quickly, and many users notice the colour stabilising within about a day.

Two ways to deepen the shade if you prefer a less bright red:

Soak the henna paste overnight before application to allow fuller dye release

Prepare the paste in an iron bowl, which can shift the shade slightly towards a deeper brownish-red tone

Over time, the colour usually becomes richer as henna naturally layers on the hair shaft.

2. Will this colour show on black hair?

On very dark or black hair, henna does not lighten the hair, so the colour effect will usually be subtle.

Herbal hair colours work by coating the hair shaft rather than bleaching it, which means strong red tones are most visible on lighter hair colours such as greys or very light brown hair.

On black hair, Madyantika Red may appear only as a soft warm tint or sheen, usually most visible in sunlight.

However, many people with dark hair still enjoy using this formulation for its Ayurvedic hair care benefits.

The herbs in this blend — including henna, amla, hibiscus and manjishta — help support hair strength, scalp comfort and hair texture when used regularly as a herbal hair pack.

If you are mainly using this product for hair health rather than colour, you can apply it as a nourishing herbal mask. Lightly oiling the hair before application can help keep the hair feeling soft after treatment.

Over time, regular use can help improve hair strength, shine and scalp balance, even if the visible colour change on dark hair remains subtle.

3. Will this cover grey hair?

Yes. Henna stains grey hair very effectively, but the colour it produces is red rather than brown or black.

When Madyantika Red is applied to grey hair, the greys usually appear as a bright copper-red shade initially. As the colour settles, it develops into a richer red tone.

The herbs in this formulation — including amla, hibiscus and manjishta — help soften the sharp copper tone that plain henna can sometimes produce.

If you have a mix of grey and dark hair, the result is often multi-tonal, where grey strands appear brighter while darker strands remain deeper in colour.

Because Madyantika Red contains a slightly lower proportion of henna compared with blends like Madyantika Classic or Uno, the colour may build more gradually on greys.

If you have a high percentage of grey hair and prefer quicker colour development, you can alternate applications with Madyantika Classic.

If you prefer a darker shade later and are comfortable using indigo, you can alternate with darker herbal blends from the Krya range, such as Midnight Black, Natural Black or Dwii.

4. Will henna make my hair orange?

Pure henna on its own usually produces a bright copper or orange-red tone, especially on grey or very light hair.

Madyantika Red is designed to balance this bright copper tone using colour-modifying Ayurvedic herbs.

Herbs like amla, hibiscus and manjishta help soften the sharp copper tone that plain henna can produce, allowing the colour to develop into a richer red shade.

The colour also settles slightly during the first 24–48 hours after application as the henna oxidizes and stabilises on the hair.

If you later prefer a deeper or less red shade, you can alternate with darker herbal blends from the Krya range, such as Madyantika Brown or Dwii.

5. Is this safe if I am sensitive to chemical hair dyes?

Madyantika Red is made entirely from whole Ayurvedic herbs and contains no synthetic dye chemicals.

Every herb in this formulation is sourced as a whole raw herb and processed in-house in our facility before blending. Because of this, you can be assured that the formulation contains no PPD, ammonia, resorcinol, peroxide, metallic salts or synthetic colourants.

What you see on the ingredient list is exactly what is present in the product — nothing more and nothing hidden.

A very small number of people may still be sensitive to certain plant-based ingredients, including herbs like henna. This is unrelated to the allergic reactions sometimes caused by chemical hair dyes.

To rule out this rare possibility, we recommend doing a simple patch test 24 hours before first use.

6. Can I use this mainly for hair care and not for colour?

Yes. Many customers use Madyantika Red primarily as a herbal hair treatment, even when they are not looking for a strong colour change.

In Ayurveda, henna (Madayantika) is valued for helping balance Kapha and Pitta, supporting scalp health and gently detoxifying the scalp. It is traditionally used to help reduce scalp irritation and support healthy hair growth.

Henna also binds naturally to the hair shaft, helping improve hair thickness, strength and resilience.

However, henna can sometimes feel slightly rough on hair when used alone because of its naturally light and astringent nature.

To balance this effect, Madyantika Red includes supporting Ayurvedic herbs such as amla, hibiscus and manjishta, which add nourishment and improve hair texture.

If you are mainly using it as a hair treatment, you can lightly oil your hair before applying the paste, which helps reduce dryness and keeps the hair feeling softer after the treatment.

7. Can I switch from chemical hair dye to this henna colour?

Yes. Many people transition to herbal hair colouring after using chemical dyes.

The main risk people hear about usually comes from compound henna powders, which may contain ingredients such as metallic salts or synthetic dyes like PPD that can react unpredictably with chemical treatments.

Krya Madyantika Red contains only whole Ayurvedic herbs and no metallic salts, PPD or synthetic pigments, so this type of reaction risk does not apply to our formulation.

If your hair is reasonably healthy, you can usually begin using henna once the previous chemical colour has faded slightly or grown out.

If your hair has been recently bleached or heavily processed, it is helpful to allow the hair some time to recover.

We suggest a simple recovery routine before colouring:

• Regular hair oiling with Krya Damage Repair Hair Oil

• Switching from shampoo to Krya Damage Repair Hair Wash

Following this routine for 3–4 weeks helps restore hair strength before applying herbal colour.

8. How long does henna colour last?

Henna colours behave differently from chemical hair dyes because they bind naturally to the keratin in the hair shaft.

Once applied, the colour produced by henna is permanent on the hair strands that have been coloured, though the tone may soften slightly over time.

Most people reapply henna every 4–6 weeks, mainly to colour new grey growth at the roots.

With repeated applications, the colour often becomes richer and more stable as the henna gradually layers on the hair.

Regular hair oiling and washing with a gentle herbal hair wash helps protect the hair shaft and keep the colour looking vibrant for longer.

9. How often can I use this henna hair colour?

Madyantika Red can generally be used every 4–6 weeks, depending on how quickly your hair grows and how visible your new grey growth becomes.

Unlike chemical dyes, henna does not damage the hair shaft when used properly. Because it binds gently to the hair and forms a protective layer, many people find that regular use helps improve hair strength, thickness and shine.

Some users also apply henna more frequently as a strengthening hair pack, especially if they are using it mainly for scalp and hair care rather than colour.

If applying frequently for hair care, lightly oiling the hair before application can help keep the hair feeling soft.

10. Can I use this henna hair colour during pregnancy or while breastfeeding?

Yes. Madyantika Red is made entirely from whole Ayurvedic herbs and contains no PPD, ammonia, resorcinol, peroxide, metallic salts or synthetic colourants.

Every herb is sourced and processed in-house, ensuring a clean formulation made only from plant ingredients.

Because of this, it is generally considered a very safe option for hair colouring during pregnancy or while breastfeeding, especially compared with chemical dyes.

A very small number of people may still be sensitive to certain plant ingredients. To rule out this rare possibility, we recommend doing a simple patch test before first use.
