A weekly Ayurvedic treatment for dandruff-prone scalp

Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is a weekly Ayurvedic scalp-care treatment created for recurring dandruff, visible flakes, itchy scalp discomfort, and dandruff-prone scalp. It is especially helpful when hair feels stressed, rough, or difficult to manage after repeated use of regular anti-dandruff shampoos.

Unlike harsh scalp treatments that focus only on stripping oil or aggressively cleansing the scalp, this 100% natural Ayurvedic hair mask is designed to support long-term scalp balance while also caring for hair softness, comfort, and manageability.

Why a hair mask matters in dandruff care

Many people with recurring dandruff or dandruff-prone scalp rely only on shampoos or quick DIY remedies. While shampoos help cleanse the scalp, they remain on the scalp only briefly before being rinsed away.

A scalp-focused hair mask allows cleansing, bitter, soothing, and conditioning Ayurvedic herbs to remain in contact with the scalp for longer, helping support a cleaner-feeling scalp while also helping comfort scalp irritation and reducing the dry, tight feeling often associated with harsh dandruff care routines.

This deeper-contact approach is especially useful for people looking for gentler long-term scalp care that supports both scalp comfort and hair softness.

Whole-herb Ayurvedic scalp care

At Krya, every batch of our Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is made using whole Ayurvedic herbs processed in-house according to classical Ayurvedic principles. We do not use pre-made cosmetic bases, synthetic fillers, or shortcut extract blends.

Instead, we carefully combine cleansing herbs, scalp-supportive bitter herbs, soothing botanicals, and conditioning ingredients to create a balanced weekly scalp-care ritual for dandruff-prone hair.

The formulation includes a rich blend of Ayurvedic ingredients traditionally used for scalp cleansing, flake reduction, and scalp comfort, including Shikakai, Soapberry, Khadira, Neem, Tulasi, Triphala, Jalpippali, Fenugreek, Hibiscus, and Bhringaraj.

You can explore the complete ingredient list and detailed ingredient breakdown in the Ingredients tab.

What users often notice with regular use

With regular use, many users notice:

  • Reduced visible dandruff flakes
  • A calmer, more comfortable scalp feel
  • Less itching between washes
  • Softer hair after dandruff care
  • Reduced dry, flaky buildup on the scalp

This hair mask is designed to address a common frustration: conventional anti-dandruff products that help reduce flakes but often leave hair feeling stripped, rough, or difficult to manage afterward.

For recurring or persistent dandruff-prone scalp concerns, this hair mask can also be paired with the Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Wash as part of a more complete Ayurvedic scalp-care routine.

For best results, apply this mask 1–2 times per week as part of a gentle weekly scalp-care ritual. You can find detailed application instructions, frequency recommendations, and routine guidance in the How to Use section below.

How to Use

How to use

Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is designed to be used very differently from conventional cosmetic hair masks. In Ayurveda, herbal scalp masks are traditionally used as part of a complete pre-hair wash ritual to deeply cleanse and support scalp balance.

All Krya hair masks are designed to be used only on well-oiled hair and scalp. This helps the herbs work more effectively on the scalp while supporting a balanced and comfortable hair-care ritual.

Step 1: Prepare the hair mask paste

Mix the required quantity of hair mask powder with clean water to create a smooth, thick paste similar to pancake batter.

For shoulder-length hair, most people require approximately 30–40 grams of hair mask powder per use.

Make sure the paste is mixed thoroughly without lumps so the herbs are evenly hydrated and activated before application.

If you have the time, you may also soak the mask overnight in an iron bowl. Traditionally, iron is believed to enhance the properties of herbal hair formulations and support scalp health further. However, this step is optional and not mandatory for good results.

Step 2: Oil the hair and scalp

Before applying the hair mask, generously apply Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Oil to both the scalp and hair lengths.

Leave the oil on for 15–20 minutes before applying the mask.

Step 3: Apply the mask carefully across the scalp

Using an applicator brush or a henna brush, section the hair neatly and apply the paste carefully across the entire scalp and hairline first.

Once the scalp is fully covered, any remaining paste can be lightly applied along the hair lengths.

After application, gently pile the hair into a loose bun and cover it using a shower cap, soft towel, or wrap to help retain moisture.

Step 4: Leave on while the mask remains moist (typically 30–45 minutes)

According to Ayurvedic hair-care principles, herbal masks should remain moist while they are on the scalp.

As long as the mask remains moist, the active principles of the herbs continue interacting comfortably with the scalp. Once the mask begins drying fully, this process reduces significantly.

For most people, this is typically around 30–45 minutes, although this can vary depending on humidity, climate, and hair thickness.

We recommend rinsing the mask off while it is still slightly moist.

Step 5: Rinse and follow with your hair wash

Rinse the hair mask thoroughly with water and follow it up with Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Wash.

For most people, using this mask once a week on one of the two weekly hair wash days works very well as part of a balanced scalp-care routine.

Why this hair mask is an important part of dandruff care

Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is designed to offer deeper scalp cleansing and longer scalp contact compared to quick rinse-off products.

The formulation combines cleansing, bitter, and scalp-supportive Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used to help reduce visible flakes, support scalp clarity, and comfort recurring dandruff-prone scalp concerns.

For people with chronic, recurring dandruff-prone scalp concerns, the Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask often becomes one of the most important steps in the complete routine because of its longer scalp contact and deeper scalp-cleansing support.

Many customers with long-term dandruff, recurring flakes, and persistent itchy scalp find that adding the Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask regularly into their routine significantly improves overall scalp comfort and cleanliness within the first few uses.

Ingredients

Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is made using 25 whole Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used to support dandruff-prone scalp, visible flakes, scalp comfort, and healthier hair texture — without relying on synthetic anti-dandruff actives, silicones, or harsh scalp-stripping additives.

Ingredient philosophy

  • Cleansing herbs – including Shikakai, Soapberry, and Green Gram — help reduce scalp buildup and support a cleaner-feeling scalp
  • Bitter & scalp-support herbs – including Neem, Khadira, Tulasi, and Karanja — are traditionally used in Ayurveda for recurring flakes, itchy scalp, and excess scalp imbalance
  • Conditioning herbs – including Fenugreek, Hibiscus, Liquorice, and Bhringaraj — help soften hair and reduce the rough, dry feeling associated with many anti-dandruff routines
  • Warming support & cleansing herbs – including Black Pepper and Sunthi — are traditionally used to support scalp circulation, cut down secretions and offer balanced herbal absorption

Our formulation approach

Every herb in this formulation is carefully sourced whole and selected based on classical Ayurvedic principles.

Unlike many modern cosmetic formulations that process all ingredients together or rely on ready-made extracts, we individually process each herb separately according to its texture, hardness, and traditional Ayurvedic processing requirements before blending them together in precise proportions.

This detailed process helps preserve the full botanical character of each ingredient while ensuring a more balanced and consistent formulation.

We do not use cosmetic filler bases, silicones, preservatives, synthetic fragrance, detergents, sulphates, or shortcut extract blends — only whole herbs processed traditionally in small batches.

FAQs

1. What is a dandruff hair mask?

A dandruff hair mask is a scalp-focused treatment designed to remain on the scalp longer than a quick rinse-off cleanser. In Ayurveda, herbal scalp masks are traditionally used to support scalp cleansing, comfort itchy scalp, reduce visible flakes, and improve overall scalp balance as part of a regular hair-care ritual.

Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask combines cleansing, bitter, scalp-supportive, and conditioning Ayurvedic herbs to support dandruff-prone scalp without relying on harsh synthetic anti-dandruff actives.

2. Why use a hair mask for dandruff care?

Many people use only shampoos for dandruff care, but scalp masks work very differently:

  • Shampoos remain on the scalp only briefly before being rinsed away
  • Hair masks allow longer scalp contact for Ayurvedic herbs
  • Longer contact helps support deeper scalp cleansing and scalp comfort
  • Especially useful for recurring dandruff, visible flakes, and itchy scalp discomfort

In Ayurveda, herbal scalp masks are traditionally considered an important part of weekly scalp care and long-term scalp balance.

3. How is this different from anti-dandruff shampoo?

Most anti-dandruff shampoos focus mainly on quick cleansing and short scalp contact. Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is designed as a longer-contact scalp ritual that works alongside your hair wash routine.

The formulation combines whole Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used for scalp cleansing, flake reduction, scalp comfort, and hair conditioning support.

Unlike many conventional anti-dandruff products, this mask is designed to support scalp comfort and hair manageability as part of a balanced long-term routine.

4. Does this help itchy scalp and visible flakes?

Yes. Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is specifically formulated for recurring dandruff, itchy scalp discomfort, and visible flakes.

The formulation uses cleansing and bitter Ayurvedic herbs traditionally used to support scalp clarity and reduce recurring scalp buildup, along with soothing herbs that help support overall scalp comfort.

Many users notice:

  • Reduced visible flakes
  • Less itching between washes
  • Cleaner-feeling scalp
  • Better scalp comfort with regular use

5. Is this suitable for oily or fungal dandruff?

Yes. This formulation is especially suitable for dandruff-prone scalp with visible flakes, oily scalp buildup, itching, and recurring scalp discomfort.

In Ayurveda, bitter and cleansing herbs such as Neem, Khadira, Karanja, Tulasi, and Kutuja are traditionally used in scalp-care formulations designed for oily dandruff and fungal dandruff tendencies.

The mask format also allows these herbs to remain in contact with the scalp for longer compared to quick rinse-off products.

6. Will this make my hair dry?

No. All Krya hair masks are designed to be used only on well-oiled hair and scalp as part of a traditional Ayurvedic pre-hair wash ritual.

The formulation itself also includes conditioning herbs such as Fenugreek, Hibiscus, Liquorice, and Bhringaraj to support softer, more manageable hair.

Many customers actually prefer this ritual because it helps balance scalp cleansing with better hair softness and comfort.

7. Why should the mask be applied on oiled hair?

In Ayurveda, herbal scalp masks are traditionally applied on well-oiled hair because the primary focus of the mask is the scalp.

Applying the mask after oiling allows the herbs to interact more comfortably with the scalp while supporting a more balanced hair-care ritual overall.

This is why we recommend using Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Oil before applying the mask.

8. How often should I use this hair mask?

For most people, using Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask once a week on one of the two weekly hair wash days works very well.

Some people with recurring or long-term dandruff-prone scalp concerns may initially prefer using it more frequently before moving to a maintenance routine.

A simple guideline:

  • Mild dandruff-prone scalp: once a week
  • Recurring or stubborn dandruff: 1–2 times a week initially
  • Long-term maintenance: once weekly scalp care

Consistency is more important than excessive use.

9. Can I use this without the full Anti-Dandruff routine?

Yes, you can use the mask independently as part of your scalp-care routine.

However, for recurring dandruff, visible flakes, itchy scalp discomfort, and long-term dandruff-prone scalp concerns, we generally recommend combining the mask with Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Oil and Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Wash for a more complete Ayurvedic scalp-care approach.

10. Why does Krya use whole herbs instead of extracts?

At Krya, we believe Ayurvedic formulations work best when herbs are used in complete, balanced combinations rather than isolated extracts.

Every herb in this formulation is individually processed according to its texture, hardness, and traditional Ayurvedic preparation requirements before being blended together in precise proportions.

This approach helps preserve the full botanical character of the herbs and creates a more balanced formulation overall.

11. Can this be used for long-term scalp care?

Yes. Krya Anti-Dandruff Hair Mask is designed as a weekly scalp-care ritual that supports long-term scalp balance rather than only short-term cosmetic management.

Many users continue using the mask regularly even after visible dandruff reduces because they enjoy the cleaner-feeling scalp, reduced itchiness, and overall scalp comfort the ritual provides.

12. How long does it take to see results?

Many customers notice reduced itching, improved scalp comfort, and a cleaner-feeling scalp within the first few uses.

For long-term or recurring dandruff-prone scalp concerns, regular and consistent use of the complete routine generally gives the best experience over time.

As with most Ayurvedic routines, consistency and proper usage are important for long-term results.
